Life Lessons, Spotlight on Women in Business – Biz(941)
Biz(941) magazine focuses on local businesses and their leaders. We photographed women featured in the May/June issue and were compelled to share some of their accomplishments and advice.
On the cover is local cardiologist, Dr. Chippy Nalluri, who has a passion and expertise for women with heart disease. In a field where approximately 12 percent of general cardiologists are women, she definitely stands out. Her advice when it comes to being a woman in business or medicine today? “Don’t try to be everything to everybody. It is a recipe for failure and disappointment. Ask for help when it is needed. Surround yourself with individuals you love, trust and respect.”
Sandi Stuart was once one of the highest-ranking women in the Clinton administration. When asked how younger women in the workplace behave, her response was, “Women today start out feeling more empowered. They don’t even consider limitations to success. It is great!”
Felice Schulaner, the executive director of the Coach Foundation advised, “Don’t work for someone who can’t teach you something”.
And, Dr. Caroline Popper shared an important point, “Be yourself, whatever that means to you.”
Powerful women with powerful words. What great subjects to shoot!
