Joan Juliet Buck’s new memoir, The Price of Illusion, illustrates a life of glamour, success, failure, growth. It is a journey of recollection, self-awareness.  Her brilliant writing captivates with its exquisite detail and smart descriptions of a lifetime of memories.  Buck was editor of French Vogue for seven years and also wrote a controversial article for American Vogue, about Syria’s first lady.  At a recent event, hosted by Anne-Marie Russell and Sarasota Museum of Art, she read from and discussed her memoir before an intimate audience of 75. Sarasota Magazine publisher, Kelly Lavin, moderated. The photographer had the opportunity to photograph her privately for a publication and to renew acquaintances at the book signing event.  Amy Greene and Adrienne Vitadinni were happy to see one another after so many years.  Amy, a former model, is the widow of Milton Greene, known for his portraits of Marilyn Monroe. Adrienne is known for the business grown out of a hobby and bearing her name.  Sarasota Museum of Art will host many other intriguing talks and exhibitions, as it grows roots in Sarasota’s fertile arts environment.
