Gifts of Life – Stories of Hope, Giving, Gratitude, Living
The recently published 2017 LifeLink project, photographed by Barbara Banks Photography, highlights individuals and families impacted by organ and tissue donation – Gifts of Life. These amazing individuals and their families represent varying ages, varying communities, diverse backgrounds. What they have in common is a bond of giving and/or receiving life through an organ transplant. The precious Gifts of Life – heart, liver, kidney or other lifesaving organ given by an incredible act of compassion and grace – generate countless stories of love, loss, gratitude, survival, struggle, hope, life and death. We traveled to Puerto Rico, Georgia, Alabama and to various Florida communities to meet and photograph these ordinary AND extraordinary people. The photos and stories shared represent PEOPLE, ALL PEOPLE. We shared with people in their homes and their environs: a rural Georgia cattle ranch and an historic courthouse; the glistening waters of Puerto Rico; the vibrant blossoms in a San Juan park and happy sunflowers in the paradise of southern Puerto Rico; a college campus in Alabama; a Georgia community theater; an old Florida railroad track and more. Here we offer the viewer a mere glimpse… to learn more, talk to your fellow human beings and hear their stories. To learn about organ and tissue donation, go to LifeLinkFoundation.org
