New Philanthropy 2: In Your Own Backyard

Sure I write charitable donation checks throughout the year, but I also give the gift of time and photography whenever I can. I frequently offer to take photographs at events and luncheons for my favorite non-profits (or offer a nice certificate as an auction item. So hello, non-profits, it’s a great idea to ask for the donation!). I always walk away humbled by the amazing people I have met, or brought to tears (or better yet, action) by the speeches I have heard.

I agree with Peter and Jennifer Buffet (see previous blog) who say we must pass on information from events like this so we help educate the masses. Knowledge is power and the more we know, the more we can do, and the more effective we can be.
